In search of great spiders...

...Found one!

.....though it was only a baby one! This is a Huntsman Spider. Common across the entire land, and widespread across much of the world, they are not shy and stories float around of various suprises people have when they crawl out of shoes early in the morning! lol. I also heard of a young girl who raised her hand to pull down a vanity mirror in the passenger seat of a car, who got the shock of her life as a massive huntsman dropped into her lap. It had seemingly crawled in the evening before looking for a bit of shade and had hidden under the flap... rather her than me! They aren't toxic but they can and will deliver a painful bite (like being stabbed with two pens apparently) and they are fast as anything.

Andy advises that he heard of one that was so big when they tried to catch it, with a Blue Danish Butter Cookie Tin (you know the ones, they've been around for years) the legs stuck out the sides because the tin wasn't big enough...
