Fantastic Nude Remix

Had to share this, because I thought it was just fantastic - lovingly crafted by James Houston who had this to say about it...

"I've just graduated from the Glasgow School of Art's graphic design course. This was my final project.
Radiohead held an online contest to remix "Nude" from their album - "In Rainbows" This was quite a difficult task for everybody that entered, as Nude is in 6/8 timing, and 63bpm. Most music that's played in clubs is around 120bpm and usually 4/4 timing. It's pretty difficult to seamlessly mix a waltz beat into a DJ set. This resulted in lots of generic entries consisting of a typical 4/4 beat, but with arbitrary clips from "Nude" thrown in so that they qualified for the contest. Thom Yorke joked at the ridiculousness of it in an interview for NPR radio, hinting that they set the competition to find out how people would approach such a challenging task. I decided to take the piss a bit, as the contest seemed to be in that spirit. Based on the lyric (and alternate title) "Big Ideas: Don't get any" I grouped together a collection of old redundant hardware, and placed them in a situation where they're trying their best to do something that they're not exactly designed to do, and not quite getting there. It doesn't sound great, as it's not supposed to. "

He was obviously enjoying playing with the Spectrum loading screen quite a lot, but stick with it as its worth the wait...aahh some of those noises bring back so many memories...

He also did this cool little advert for MTV...

That reminds me, I meant to ask my bro to send me his animation short for his college project because its also very very cool (you know the one bro, the one to Aqualung with the fish...). Assuming of course you'd let me..

Also, as an aside, went to see a George Harrison celebration concert at The Basement in Sydney, very cool indeed, and the Australian answer to Des Lynam was in the house - Les Murray. As many will know, I loves my footy dearly and have been suffering withdrawal symptoms. Well, the Aussie coverage isn't great because there's not a lot of it, to be frank, and the commentators use funny words and pronunciations of our beautiful game ( i think one of them actually called it soccer - horror of horrors...) but anyway, Les presents it in a Des Lynam style fashion.....last night he got up on stage with the band and belted out several of George's best tunes. Was wierd seeing the Aussie Des go at it like that, but he was really good, and Liam and I got to chat to him outside whilst having a ciggie after the gig, turns out hes a very nice guy as well. Good work all round fella.

1 mumbles or rants about it:
